Community Rules

Version 1.0 · Effective 2026-10-23

Operated by Bern Endres ("we," "us"). Contact: info@angelicseatrav.llc

These rules are part of our Terms of Use. They apply to everything members post on this site: feedback and suggestions, comments, replies, votes, images, and member chat rooms (together, "Community Areas"). You must accept them before your first post. If we change them, we will tell you and ask you to accept the new version before you post again.

1. Who can post

1.1 You must be a registered member and at least 18 years old. Anyone found not to be 18 or older will be deleted from the site.

1.2 One account per person. Do not share your account or post for someone else.

1.3 Do not post while suspended, or create a new account to get around a suspension or ban.

2. How to treat each other

2.1 Be respectful. Disagree with ideas, not people.

2.2 Not allowed:

  • (a) harassment, bullying, threats, or encouraging violence or self-harm;
  • (b) hateful content that attacks people for race, ethnicity, national origin, religion, sex, gender identity, sexual orientation, disability, age, or similar characteristics;
  • (c) sexual or pornographic content, and any content that sexualizes minors (reported to authorities, see 9.3);
  • (d) posting anyone's private information without their consent — home address, phone, email, financial details, or another member's vessel position, MMSI, HIN, or documentation details;
  • (e) impersonating another person, member, or our staff;
  • (f) spam, chain posts, unapproved advertising, or affiliate/referral links without our written permission;
  • (g) content that is illegal, or that promotes or explains how to commit illegal acts;
  • (h) malware, phishing links, or attempts to break, overload, scrape, or probe the site;
  • (i) knowingly false reports, including fake bug reports or abuse of the Report button.

2.3 Keep posts on topic for the area you are in.

3. Safety at sea

3.1 Information members share — including about navigation, weather, boat systems, repairs, and seamanship — is personal experience, not professional advice. It may be wrong or out of date.

3.2 The skipper of a vessel is responsible for its safe operation. Check official sources (NOAA, U.S. Coast Guard, official charts and notices) and qualified professionals before acting on anything read here.

3.3 In an emergency, do not post here. Call 911, or the U.S. Coast Guard on VHF Channel 16.

4. Privacy in Community Areas

4.1 "Post as A member." Bug reports always appear to other members as "A member." On other posts you may choose this option. Administrators can always see who posted, so they can follow up with you and enforce these rules.

4.2 What is collected with a post: your account, the page you were on, and, unless you untick the box, your device type, operating system, browser, and screen size. Device details are visible to administrators only. IP addresses are not recorded with feedback posts.

4.3 Images: Location and camera data are removed from uploaded images. You decide whether other members can see your images; administrators can always view them.

4.4 Withdrawing a post hides it from members. We keep a record of it, and of all edits, status changes, and moderation actions, to keep an accurate history.

4.5 Our Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and protect personal information.

5. Your content

5.1 You own what you post. By posting, you give us a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free license to host, store, display, format, and moderate it on this site, and to keep it as described in 4.4.

5.2 Ideas and suggestions: If you submit an idea, suggestion, or feedback, we may use it, change it, or build on it without paying you or owing you anything. We are under no obligation to use it.

5.3 You confirm that you have the right to post what you post, and that it does not infringe anyone else's copyright, trademark, privacy, or other rights.

6. Copyright complaints

6.1 If you believe content here infringes your copyright, send a written notice to our designated agent containing:

  • (a) your physical or electronic signature;
  • (b) identification of the copyrighted work;
  • (c) identification of the material you claim infringes, with enough detail for us to find it;
  • (d) your address, phone number, and email;
  • (e) a statement that you believe in good faith the use is not authorized by the copyright owner, its agent, or the law; and
  • (f) a statement that the information in your notice is accurate and, under penalty of perjury, that you are authorized to act for the copyright owner.

Designated agent: Bern Endres, 19460 Forebestown Rd, Oroville, CA 95966 · 530-812-4566 · info@angelicseatrav.llc

6.2 We will terminate, in appropriate circumstances, the accounts of members who repeatedly infringe copyrights.

7. Moderation

7.1 We may, in good faith, remove, hide, or restrict any content, and limit, suspend, or close any account, that we believe breaks these rules or harms the community, the site, or others.

7.2 We normally use these steps: reminder → content removed with a warning → temporary suspension → permanent removal. We may skip steps for serious violations, such as threats, illegal content, or exploitation of minors.

7.3 Each action we take is logged with the reason. When we remove your content or restrict your account, we will tell you why, unless the law or safety prevents it.

7.4 Appeals: Email info@angelicseatrav.llc within 14 days of the action, with your username and why you think it was wrong. An administrator not involved in the original decision will review it, where possible. We will reply within 14 days. The appeal decision is final.

7.5 Posting limits apply to prevent flooding: currently 5 new posts per day and 30 comments per hour per member.

8. Reporting a problem

8.1 Use the Report button on any post or comment. Reports go to administrators and are kept confidential.

8.2 Do not respond to abuse with abuse. Report it instead.

9. Law enforcement and illegal content

9.1 We cooperate with valid legal requests from law enforcement.

9.2 We may share information with authorities when we believe in good faith that someone is in danger.

9.3 We report apparent child sexual exploitation to the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children (NCMEC), as federal law requires.

10. No guarantees

10.1 Community Areas are provided "as is." We do not guarantee they will always be available, error-free, or that any suggestion will be built.

10.2 Members are responsible for what they post. Views posted by members are theirs, not ours, and we do not endorse them.

10.3 To the fullest extent the law allows, we are not liable for content posted by members, or for decisions you make based on it. Nothing in these rules limits liability that cannot be limited by law.

11. Changes to these rules

11.1 We may update these rules. We will post the new version with its effective date and version number, notify members on the site, and ask you to accept it before you post again. The version you accepted, and when, is recorded on your account.

12. Governing law

12.1 These rules are governed by the laws of the State of California and applicable U.S. federal law.
