Privacy Policy

Version 1.0 · Effective 2026-10-23

This policy explains what personal information angelicseatrav.llc (the "site") collects, how it is used, and your choices. The site is operated by Bern Endres ("we," "us"), 19460 Forebestown Rd, Oroville, CA 95966 · 530-812-4566 · info@angelicseatrav.llc.

1. What we collect

When you request membership: first and last name, email address, birth year, phone number (optional), and the time you confirmed you are 18 or older.

When you are a member: your username, a securely hashed password (we never store or see your actual password), your membership role and permissions, account status, and display preferences (such as metric or imperial units).

Vessel information you enter: vessel details and specifications, Hull Identification Number (HIN), official/documentation number, MMSI, and ownership information. Ownership documents you upload are stored privately and can be seen only by you (as Captain) and the site's System Owner.

Content you create: ship's log and other log entries (which can include positions, times, crew names, weather, and notes), comments, feedback, images, and other posts.

Names are the only personal detail in logs. Logs have no place for email addresses, phone numbers, or home addresses. The only personal information a log records is a person's name: the Captain, crew, guests, and the member who made the entry. Please don't type contact details into a log's notes.

When you use the feedback area: the page you were on and, unless you untick the box, your device type, operating system, browser, and screen size. Location and camera data are removed from uploaded images.

When you use the contact form: your name, email address, message, and your IP address (used to block spam and abuse).

Security records: to protect accounts and forms from attacks, we record the IP address and time of login attempts and form submissions, and security events (such as failed checks) in the site's server logs. Our hosting provider also keeps standard server access logs (IP address, browser type, pages requested, time).

2. Cookies and tracking

  • The site uses one cookie: a session cookie that keeps you signed in and protects forms. It is deleted when you close your browser, and sessions end after 30 minutes of inactivity.
  • We do not use analytics, advertising, or social media tracking cookies or scripts.
  • No third parties collect information about your activity on this site over time or across other websites.
  • Do Not Track: because we do not track you across websites, browser "Do Not Track" signals do not change how the site works.
  • When you click a link on our Resources page, we count the click. We do not record who clicked.

3. How we use information

  • To review membership requests and run your account.
  • To provide the site's features: vessel profiles, logs, crew access, feedback, and messages.
  • To verify vessel registration details against U.S. Coast Guard public records.
  • To reply to you and send account and service emails: membership invites, password resets, decisions on your requests, boat transfers, and the optional crew and boat updates (section 6).
  • To keep the site secure, prevent spam and abuse, and enforce our Terms of Use and Community Rules.
  • To meet legal obligations.

We do not and will not sell, rent, or trade your personal information, for any reason. We do not share it for targeted advertising.

4. Who we share it with

Only these, and only as needed:

Recipient What they receive Why
Our web host (Namecheap) All site data, stored on their servers Hosting the site
Google Workspace Messages and notifications sent to our info@ mailbox Our business email
StopForumSpam IP address and a one-way scrambled code (hash) of the email address from contact-form submissions Spam check. Private network addresses are never sent.
U.S. Coast Guard public vessel data service Vessel numbers you enter (official number or HIN), not your name Vessel verification
OpenStreetMap (Nominatim) Port or place names you search for Port location lookup
Other members Your username and what you post or share, according to your settings. Bug reports and "Post as A member" posts hide your name from other members. Community features
The vessel's next owner That vessel's Ship's Log, Maintenance Log, Watch & Checklist Log, and Radio Log, including the names recorded in them. Never your contact details, documents, Captain's Log, or Personal Logbook. The Guest Log (guests' names and dates only) goes only if the seller chooses to include it. A boat's history stays with the boat when it is sold or its owner leaves (section 5)
Authorities Information required by valid legal process, or needed to protect someone's safety Legal and safety obligations

If the site itself is transferred to a successor (for example, a company we form), your information would move with it and stay protected by this policy. It would not be sold separately.

5. How long we keep it

  • Account information: while your account is active, and afterward as long as needed for the purposes in section 3 or as the law requires.
  • Log entries, vessel history, and edit/moderation history: kept as a permanent record, including after an account closes. Logs can be relied on as evidence of what happened aboard, so they are kept to auditing and credibility standards: complete, unaltered, and with every change recorded. No one, including site administrators, can edit or delete a log entry once it is saved. Corrections are added as new versions, and the original stays.
  • Withdrawn posts: hidden from members but kept as part of the record.
  • Contact messages: until we delete them.
  • Security records: as long as needed for security and abuse prevention.
  • Denied membership requests: deleted after 12 months.

When a vessel is sold, left, lost, or removed. A boat's record belongs to the boat, not to whoever owns it now, so a future owner can carry its history on.

  • Sold (ownership transfer): the Ship's Log, Maintenance Log, Watch & Checklist Log, and Radio Log pass to the new owner, who must verify ownership for themselves. Your Captain's Log and Personal Logbook stay with you and are never shown to the next owner. The Guest Log stays with you too, unless you choose to include it in the transfer.
  • You leave the vessel: you are unlinked from the boat and your contact details come off it. The boat and the logs listed above stay on the site for a future owner, who can claim it by proving ownership (reviewed by us). Names already recorded in those logs stay as part of the record.
  • Ownership documents and proof-of-loss reports: kept for the audit trail and visible only to site administrators, never to a later owner.
  • Reported lost or destroyed: once approved, the boat and all its records are kept permanently and read-only.
  • Deleted because it was added by mistake (only possible when the boat has no logs): the boat's details are erased. We keep only its name, its HIN or registration number if one was entered, your member ID, and when it was added and deleted, so repeated add-and-delete can be spotted.
  • Transfer requests: the email address you enter for the buyer is used to send the request or a membership invitation, and is kept with the transfer record. Every transfer, claim, loss report, and reinstatement is recorded with who acted, when, and why.

6. Your choices

  • See and update your information in your account settings, or ask us.
  • Request a copy, a correction, or deletion by emailing info@angelicseatrav.llc. We will respond within 30 days. Some information cannot be deleted where we must keep it (section 5), where the law requires it, or where it is part of another member's or vessel's records, such as your name in a vessel's logs; we will tell you if so.
  • Emails. Emails about your own requests, boat transfers to or from you, and your account (such as password resets) are part of using the site and are always sent. Crew and boat updates (your crew access ended, a boat you crew on was marked lost, you were brought back onto a crew) are optional: turn them off in your profile. We don't send marketing emails; if we ever do, they will be opt-in, with an unsubscribe link in every one.
  • Close your account at any time by contacting us.

7. Security

We use HTTPS encryption, hashed passwords, role-based access controls, private storage for documents, login and form throttling, and spam checks. No system is perfectly secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security. If a breach affects your personal information, we will notify you as the law requires.

8. Age

The site is for adults. Members must be 18 or older. We do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 18. Anyone found not to be 18 or older will be deleted from the site.

9. Where your information is stored

Your information is stored and processed in the United States.

10. Changes to this policy

When we make material changes, we will post the new version with its effective date and notify members on the site before the changes apply.
